Howard Jones field has been the practice site of seven Heisman Trophy winners, 147 All-Americans and 11 national championship teams.
Now you can add another group to that list: The 77 participants of the 2008 Trojan Flashback Football fantasy camp.
The campers had their first full-length practice on the fabled practice field on Thursday morning, going through a rotation of drills related to what the real Trojans do each practice in the fall.
See Thursday morning’s Flashback practice for yourself:
Running backs coach Todd McNair teaches a Flashback camper how to receive a handoff.
A camper catches a pass during wide receiver drills.
Campers go through offensive linemen drills.
Secondary coach Rocky Seto throws to a Flashback camper to mimic a defensive back intercepting a pass.
With defensive coordinator Nick Holt yelling out instructions, fantasy camper Paul Orfalea, the founder of Kinko’s, does a tackling drill.
A camper goes through linebacker bag drills.
Passing game coordinator John Morton barks out directions during a modified 7-on-7 period.
The fantasy campers split into teams for games of Trojan Ball, a competition that combines rules from football, ultimate Frisbee and the creative minds of the USC coaching staff.
Coach Carroll addresses the 77 campers to wrap up their morning practice on Howard Jones field.
